North Lanarkshire Community Play Association Launches

3 August 2010

NLCPA is a new voluntary organisation, set up to support and promote children’s play opportunities within North Lanarkshire. A Scottish Charity, NLCPA is funded by Inspiring Scotland through the Go Play initiative. Our remit is to enable play providers and partners to work together to support the development of quality play and free play provision for children and young people aged 5-13 years. We have a dedicated management committee with volunteer members who have a wide range of knowledge, skills and experience. We believe play is an essential part of every child’s life.

NLCPA will support voluntary organisations, other play providers and partners to deliver new or more free play opportunities across the region. We are committed to ensuring that North Lanarkshire has a range of accessible and inclusive quality play provisions for children and young people. We aim to do this by supporting our members in the following areas:

• Access to resources and materials to help with organisational and operational issues
• Up to date information on play and the voluntary sector in general
• Training and networking opportunities for staff and committee members
• Developing and sharing examples of best practice
